Paws Up on Health LLC is the embodiment of our dreams and our ideals to provide natural and organic foods, treats, supplements and products for our own dogs as well as to like-minded pet owners.

In 1998, we heard about a new feeding program called BARF (Bones and Raw Food) which led us to read everything we could get our hands on, and talk to anyone we could find who was feeding BARF to their dogs, there was very little information.  Then in late 1999, after losing one of our dogs to cancer, and in early 2000, with another dog who was diagnosed with auto-immune, we decided to make significant changes to our dogs’ lifestyle.   We began feeding our dogs a natural diet, utilizing holistic options along with conventional methods, minimizing vaccinations and exposure to un-natural products, all in order to provide them with better health.  The dogs are doing great!!

Paws Up On Health’s mission statement is very clear “just good things for your pet”.  In keeping with that statement, we feature only natural products from ordinary to the exotic from well-established and highly respected companies.  As part of our commitment and high standards, we continuously research to provide our clients with the best natural products for their pets and best value for their money.

2009 Notables

On August 25th, Breyer celebrated her 14th birthday and we celebrate her life.  She stills rules the pack, enjoys traveling to shows and strutting her stuff.  We are so fortunate to have changed the dogs’ feeding and health care choices when they were young and feel fortunate we are still able to enjoy their companionship.

On September 26th, Sookie (Kyons Vesle Bon Temps) joined the gang and she is “oh what a cutie”.  Within the first month, she was at a Golden Retriever Specialty, a USDAA agility trial and two AKC Agility trials and had two puppy herding lessons on ducks.  We thank Kyon Kennels for again trusting us with another one of their lovely dogs.  Sookie began her Agility Foundation training this winter.

Jordie earned her USDAA Performance Standard II title (PSII) and her Performance Dog II title (PDII), then completed her AKC Master Standard (MX) title in July, her Novice Fast and Open Fast title.  Jordie has a few more titles she would like to complete this year.

Morgan suffered a soft tissue injury last winter playing in the snow and was on the disabled list until cleared for training by her PT David Acciani of Advanced Canine Rehab.  Once totally back into the game she completed her AKC Open Fast (OF) along with some Master Agility Jumper (MXJ) and Excellent Fast legs.  Morgan earned her USDAA Advanced Snooker (AS), and was a 9th place qualifier with her first ever Dog Agility Master Team “the Barkaholics”.   She was ranked the #3 2008 AKC Agility Norwegian Buhund and invited to the 2009 Agility Invitational in California.

Chase earned USDAA Agility Dog title (AD) Starter Pairs (SR) and his Advanced Snooker (AS) and his AKC Open Fast title all with placement ribbons.  In 2000, five week after my first Eskie Delilah crossed the bridge Chase found me in lower Manhattan.  He was a mature dog with no training and a bunch of rescue issues.  Chase has accomplished more than I ever thought possible and win lose or draw he always has a good time.  He is now semi retired to USDAA events.

Jamie entered the world of competition debuting in USDAA, earning her Starter Gamblers (SG) title all with placement ribbons.

An early 2010 Notable

The Norwegian Buhund debuted at the 134th Westminster Kennel Club Show.  Morgan, Sookie and I were invited to participate in an interview with Talk Soup and David Frei (the voice of Westminster) to introduce the three new breeds.  Morgan was selected to sit on the Talk Soup Host’s lap during the interview and she was awesome.  It was so much fun and I am proud to have had the opportunity.  Sookie (only 5 1/2 months old) regaled everyone with her wonderful personality and ability to NOT chase the resident cat.

Paws Up Quality Control Team:

The dogs, in addition to their training and showing schedule, are also responsible for taste testing and rating products with their "paws up" method. Some products we have noticed they keep requesting to re-test…hmmm…

So it is safe to say that our lives have gone to the dogs

…and we could not be happier

It is a personal commitment, an educated choice and responsibility to decide how to care, feed, and support your pet.  Paws Up On Health LLC offers alternatives and suggestions, which are not substitutes for professional vet care.
